A membership in the Congregation for Humanistic Judaism allows you to enjoy our year-round schedule of activities and celebrations. Some of our many events include meaningful High Holidays services, Sukkot and Hanukkah celebrations, a spiritual Tu B’Shevat seder, movie night featuring a Humanistic-themed film, frequent, informative Adult Ed sessions, men’s and women’s raps, book club, a popular Passover seder, and much more. We have maintained our community during the pandemic with robust Zoom programming. We are beginning to resume in-person activities and wherever possible play it on Zoom as well so that out-of-towners and others not yet ready to socialize in person can participate.
We welcome new members and will do our best to make you feel at home in the congregation so that you will stay for the long term. We offer brand new members a special first year fee of $280 for a two adult household and $187 for single adults.
The regular membership fee for a two adult household is $560 and for a single adult household is $375.
CHJ is pleased to announce a membership category that is available to parties who live beyond the 50 mile radius of Westport. This category was initially created for members who moved out of the area and wanted to stay connected to the congregation. Now that Congregation events are in transition — some taking place on Zoom and others in person and also on Zoom (the so-called “hybrid” method) — we have a unique opportunity to expand our community. The Out of Area Membership cost is $187 for single members, and $280 for families. It includes full access to all programming, including groups, holiday services, newsletter, etc.
CHJ’s two-year mitzvah plan of study is comprised of monthly live classes and activities facilitated by our mitzvah coordinator and teachers. The fee for each year of study is $1000.
To join the Congregation, please complete the membership form.
