Guest Speaker: Manny Ratafia, Humanist Association of Connecticut
We welcomed the New Year with a beautiful, contemplative service written by members of our congregation to reflect both the joy and solemnity of Rosh Hashanah. The service incorporates meaningful elements of Jewish tradition that are consistent with our humanistic worldview. Included are readings, poetry, music and singing, Shofar blowing, Torah reading and commentary, candlelighting and a memorial service. Our guest speaker was Manny Ratafia, a renowned technology entrepreneur and writer, who is past president and development chairman of the Humanist Association of Connecticut. Mr. Ratafia will address the congregation's theme of the year, "The Tradition of Questioning."
When the service is completed, there is an "oneg," a refreshment table, around which participants socialize. This service, like all of our High Holiday day and evening programs, is open to the public at no charge.
