Leadership Program
We have access to rabbinical services. But we function very nicely without a rabbi. We do the rabbinic function as a group. Rabbi Sherwin Wine has praise for the congregation. "It's a wonderful community that has basically, over the past 30 years, relied on leadership coming out of their own congregation," he says. "They're very talented people. I have always admired the spirit and talent of the congregation and its self-reliance." The Society of Humanistic Judaism and the Congress of Secular Jewish Organization (CSJO) are co-sponsors of the International Institute For Secular Humanistic Judaism (IISHJ). One of the major activities of IISHJ is its Leadership program. The purpose of the Leadership Training Program is to train professional leaders to serve the needs of the Secular Humanistic Jewish movement. The program is governed by the Leadership Program Committee appointed by the Board of Governors of the International Institute For Secular Humanistic Judaism/North American Section. This committee includes representatives of the faculty, the students, and the Leadership Conference of Secular and Humanistic Jews. The Congregation draws on leaders trained in this program and on leaders who have demonstrated their capability through participation in the Congregation. |
